Local History
Seascale was an early Norse settlement in Viking times. The arrival of the Furness Railway in 1849 grew the village into a popular Victorian seaside resort, thanks in part to its long beaches and easy access by train.
Cumbrian Lodge was converted into a hotel in 1999 and later acquired by Paul and Angela Evans in 2020. Now, our comfortable, accommodating lodge makes the ideal base for people looking to explore the local area. We also offer accomodation for visiting business guests of sellafield.
Where to Find Us
Ideally located just outside the Lake District National Park but within a short drive of Eskdale and Wastwater, Seascale is a village on the west coast of Cumbria. The village has a beach and lies 2 miles south of Sellafield. You can find our hotel on the B5344, which runs from the A595 at Gosforth, and is the main road into Seascale village.
